Whilst they have anyone you care about remaining "in". You have to decide whether you can live estranged from them. They have the power of your own love and loyalty to family and will use it against you. They make the choices inhumanly tough.
i just watched the oprah interview.
i know that many view them with little interest as just entitled wastes of space and i get that.. however, the description of how they were "trapped" and silenced and forced into perpetuating the system with little or no personal freedom rang bells for me.
they are effectively shunned, estranged and disparaged by their family and cut off from support.
The aspect that I saw and recognised was the fact that once you question the received wisdom, the life you had is over. No room for argument, no debate. Of course they have gone from wealth. and privilege to wealth and privilege but Meghan's story reminds me of love bombing, baptism and then (too late) reality.
Please understand I am not suggesting that this is a direct comparison, just that those aspects made my skin crawl.

This is a giant face-saver. Now the legislation is passed they have to obey caesar by their own rules. Surprise, surprise, that obedience is going to save them millions in tax dollars.
